KS3 Design and Technology

Learn how to be creative in planning, designing and be a problem solver in science.

This page provides resource covering the subject of design and technology, covering topics such as:

  1. Design – use research and exploration to identify and understand user needs, identify and solve design and reformulating problems, develop specifications, and develop and communicate design ideas
  2. Make – select from and use specific tools, processes and techniques, and complex range of materials to aid the design
  3. Evaluate – analyse past and present work to develop and broaden their understanding, investigate new and emerging technologies, and understanding developmetns in deisng and technology and the wider impacts to individuals and communities.
  4. Technical Knowledge – understand and use the properties of materials and performances to achieve functioning solutions, understand advanced mechanical, electrical and electronic systems to be used in products, and applying computing and electronics embedding intelligence to be incorporated into products.
  5. Cooking and Nutrition – understand and applying principles of nutrition and health, becoming competent in a range of cooking techniques and of a healthy and varied diet, and understanding broad range of ingredients available.
