Product Development Technologist Degree Apprenticeship


Be part of the R&D Team based in Worksop playing a key part in the development of our branded products like Sharwood’s, Lloyd Grossman, Batchelor’s, Bisto and Paxo. Be part of a team in charge of developing and launching new products keeping a close eye of food safety and consumer insights.

Salary: £19,000.00

What you will do in your working day

The role involves developing the production process, ingredient specifications, packaging information, product life and the quality & safety of food at all stages of production.

  • Support pilot plant trials and factory trials with operations, process and site technical teams at our manufacturing sites
  • Support generation of document control and process relating to project
  • Monitor current trends and consumer food behaviours
  • To work with the Sensory Team to evaluate product performance and further consumer and sensory understanding of category
  • Understand the ingredients relating to specific products and work with suppliers

The training you will be getting

  • You will be required to attend Sheffield Hallam University on a series of 4-day study blocks
  • The degree award is BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Food Technology
  • Apprentices must achieve level 2 English and maths prior to the end-point assessment

Food industry technical professional (integrated degree)
Level 6 (Degree with honours)

Demonstrating experience

If your application is successful, you will have a chance to discuss your relevant prior learning or experience with your training provider and employer. You will all need to agree any adjustments to your training plan.

You should be prepared to show your competence, and evidence of relevant qualifications
